Fire Department report accepted as response times trail city standards

San José’s Public Safety, Finance and Strategic Support Committee accepted the Fire Department’s FY 2025-2026 operations report. The department handled 109,767 incidents, including 66,785 medical calls, while meeting the city’s eight-minute Priority 1 response standard 63% of the time and the county’s Code 3 EMS standard 85% of the time. Staff said travel time remains the main response challenge. The department is advancing CAD-to-CAD dispatch, a three-signal preemption pilot, Next Generation 9-1-1 upgrades and a Mobile Care Unit launched October 1.
