Hotel De Anza gets 10-year preservation contract

San Jose approved a 10-year historical property contract with 233 W Santa Clara LLC for the Hotel De Anza at 233 West Santa Clara Street. The agreement allows the property to qualify for a historic-property tax assessment while requiring the owner to preserve and rehabilitate the landmark. The owner must spend at least 10% of the resulting annual tax savings on preservation and maintenance, with work planned over 10 years starting Jan. 1, 2027. The City Clerk will send the agreement for signature and record it with Santa Clara County.
