San José plans to add three state-owned fire engines
San José plans to accept three additional Type 1 fire engines and equipment from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services for about $1.062 million over an estimated 10-year term. The engines will be housed at active city fire stations and sent first to statewide mutual-aid assignments, helping preserve city-owned frontline engines for local coverage. The council is scheduled to consider the agreement on Oct. 27, 2026; the source shows an approved date of Oct. 13, 2026, but no vote tally.
