Council upholds 20-MW data center approval at 300 Holger Way

The City Council denied an environmental appeal and upheld approval for a 20-megawatt data center inside the existing 97,800-square-foot building at 300 Holger Way. The council’s 8-0 vote allows Holger Technology Partners LLC to proceed under a CEQA infill exemption. The project covers about 4.86 acres and includes interior improvements and data racks, with no approved exterior equipment, generators, grading, demolition, tree removal or site expansion. The appeal, filed by Citizens for Responsible Industry, raised concerns about air quality, noise, water use, hazardous materials, burrowing owl habitat and General Plan compliance. Staff said no new environmental impact report is required.
