Police auditor reports 330 case audits as SJPD responds to 12 recommendations

San José’s Independent Police Auditor presented its 2025 oversight findings, and the Police Department responded to 12 recommendations covering officer conduct, data access, property damage, critical-incident reviews and vehicle impounds. The department agrees or partially agrees with all 12 and has begun several changes, including banning personal-device access to Flock and automated license-plate-reader databases. The Council was asked to accept both the auditor’s report and the department’s response; the source does not include the Council’s final vote.
