Council to consider backing $11.25B California housing bond

Mayor Barbara Lee is asking the Oakland City Council to support Proposition 1, a Nov. 3, 2026 statewide ballot measure that would authorize $11.25 billion in California housing bonds. The money would fund affordable rental housing, supportive and student housing, veterans’ housing, farmworker and tribal housing, preservation, infrastructure and homeownership programs. The Rules and Legislation Committee scheduled the measure for Oct. 8; the source does not show a council vote.
