$1.15 million grant would fund regional transportation planning in LaVilla
Jacksonville plans to add $1.15 million in federal grant funding for a regional infrastructure study centered on the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center in LaVilla. The work will examine multimodal needs, including a possible Amtrak station move from Clifford Lane to LaVilla, transportation needs near the University of Florida graduate campus and other projects that could qualify for federal financing. The grant runs from Sept. 1, 2026, through Aug. 31, 2029, requires no local match and would be overseen by the Public Works Department's Engineering and Construction Management Division. The council must approve the capital plan amendment by a two-thirds vote of members present.
