Description
Proclamation of “Nurse Practitioners Week”
Summary
The City of Fresno resolution recognizes November 8–14, 2026, as Nurse Practitioner Week. Sponsored by Councilmembers Nick Richardson and Mike Karbassi, and approved by Mayor Jerry Dyer and the City Council, it honors nurse practitioners’ role in providing primary, acute, and specialty care. The resolution notes that more than 47,000 licensed NPs practice across California, particularly serving underserved communities and supporting health equity. It describes their contributions to prevention, patient education, chronic-condition management, and effective, cost-conscious care. The measure is commemorative rather than regulatory: it does not change Fresno law or impose requirements, but publicly acknowledges NPs and supports policies enabling them to use their full professional capabilities.
