Description

UPDATE ON OPPORTUNITIES TO OUTSIDE AGENCIES FOR GRANTS FROM THE CARON fOUNDATION SETTLEMENT FUNDS AND OPIOID LITIGATION SETTLEMENT FUNDS.

Summary

Delray Beach’s City Commission is reviewing draft Requests for Applications (RFAs) that would allow outside organizations to seek settlement-funded grants. The proposed opioid funds include $135,000 for workforce and job assistance and $135,024.93 for affordable or supportive housing for people at risk of, or experiencing, opioid use disorder and related conditions. Separately, $947,566 in Caron Foundation settlement funds may support substance-abuse education and training, including programs for youth. The Opioid Settlement Advisory Committee suggested releasing $450,000 of Caron funds initially and limiting awards to $100,000 annually, potentially for up to three years. Commission feedback will guide revisions before advisory, legal, and final Commission approval.
