Approve an ordinance waiving or reimbursing certain fees related to Driveway Series' Wrong Turn Bicycle Race held at Onion Creek Park on May 2, 2026.

Summary

Austin’s proposed ordinance would waive or reimburse a $1,850 Street Event Tier 2 permit fee for Driveway Series’ Wrong Turn bicycle race, held at Onion Creek Park on May 2, 2026. The event generated an estimated $3,135 in Transportation and Public Works fees; $1,285 would remain payable. The waiver would reduce projected Transportation Fund revenue by $1,850 in the 2025–26 budget. Under an existing council resolution, the participating offices’ remaining fee-waiver budgets would be reduced: Fuentes by $1,000; Vela, Laine, and Siegel by $250 each; and Velasquez by $100. The ordinance is sponsored by Council Member Vanessa Fuentes and supported by several council members and the mayor.
