Approving And Authorizing The Acceptance Of Grant Funds From The New Mexico Office Of Broadband Access And Expansion For The ARPA Community Wi-Fi Parks Project; And Appropriating Funds To The Department Of Technology And Innovation (Baca, Bassan, Rogers, by request)
Summary
Resolution R-26-66 authorizes Albuquerque’s Department of Technology and Innovation to accept and administer a $927,485.13 grant from the New Mexico Office of Broadband Access and Expansion for the ARPA Community Wi-Fi Parks Project. Funds would be appropriated in Fiscal Year 2027 without requiring a City match to design, install, test, and operate free public Wi-Fi at Phil Chacon Park, Tiguex Park, Old Town Plaza, Mesa Verde Park, and North Domingo Baca Park. The project may include wireless equipment, broadband connections, fiber, electrical and backup power systems, construction, and related services. It would benefit residents and visitors by improving access to education, employment, government services, health information, and emergency communications. The department must follow cybersecurity, privacy, accessibility, procurement, reporting, and grant requirements. If funding is reduced, project scope or sequencing may be adjusted.
