Description

Notification of a grant application submitted by the Aviation Department to the New Mexico Economic Development Department for funding through the Site Readiness Fund program

Summary

EC-26-241 notifies the Albuquerque City Council that the Aviation Department applied for a $100,000 New Mexico Economic Development Department Site Readiness Fund grant. The funding would pay for engineering and design of electric, gas, water, wastewater, stormwater, and telecommunications utilities serving a proposed heliport and an adjacent 130-acre parcel at Double Eagle II Airport. The City would provide $18,750 in matching funds from the Aviation Department’s Capital Fund 613. The project affects airport operations, prospective aviation and commercial tenants, and future development at DEII. It is intended to reduce conflicts between helicopter and fixed-wing activity, improve site readiness, and support future jobs, investment, and revenue. Design is expected to take six to nine months; delaying approval could postpone development and require multiple-year funding.
